Fees and health fund questions
These answers are general information about fees and extras. Your options are confirmed after assessment. Individual responses vary.
How much does a chiropractor cost in Adelaide?
At Stapleton Chiropractic the current fees are $69 for an initial consultation and $60 for a standard visit.
The Australian Chiropractors Association Consultation Fee Survey 2025 lists the South Australian average initial consultation at $122. All major health funds accepted. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) confirms your options after assessment.
Individual responses vary.
Does private health insurance cover chiropractic?
Chiropractic is often included under the extras (ancillary) part of Australian private health insurance. If your extras include a chiropractic benefit, you may be able to claim a rebate after your visit.
No GP referral is needed to book, or to claim extras. The amount depends on your fund and policy. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) and the front desk can help you understand the receipt. We accept all major health funds.
Check your policy for your exact entitlements.
Which health funds does Stapleton Chiropractic accept?
All major health funds accepted.
Patients commonly claim through funds such as Bupa, Medibank, HCF, NIB, CBHS, Health Partners, Australian Unity, Teachers Health, Defence Health, Police Health, Peoplecare, GMHBA, and other registered extras policies.
If you are unsure, check your extras details or call (08) 8297 5277. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) does not need you to have extras to book.
How much will I get back from my health fund?
Rebate amounts vary by fund and policy tier. We do not quote a typical rebate here, because your gap is set by your extras, not by the clinic.
After each visit we give you an itemised receipt so you can claim through your fund's app or member portal. Check your policy, or call your fund, for your exact entitlement. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) can talk through fees at your visit.
Annual extras limits also vary and usually reset on 1 January.
How do I claim my private health insurance rebate?
We accept all major health funds. After your visit we provide an itemised receipt. You claim directly with your fund through their app, member portal, or website. We do not process on-the-spot health fund claiming in clinic.
The amount you receive depends on your extras. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) and reception can explain the receipt. If you are unsure what your extras include, check your policy before you come.
What is a gap payment and how much will I pay out of pocket?
The gap is the difference between the clinic fee and what your fund rebates. You pay the clinic fee at the visit. Your fund then pays the rebate to you according to your policy.
For example, a $60 standard visit minus whatever your extras return is your net cost. Your exact gap depends on your fund and tier. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) does not set your rebate.
Check with your fund for the figure that applies to you.
Do you offer prepaid packages and what is the refund policy?
Optional prepaid visit credit is available if you ask. It is not required. Unused credit is refunded in full. You are not required to prepay. Full terms are provided before any prepaid purchase.
Prepaid credit is not a treatment plan and does not set how often you should attend. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) reviews progress with you as you go. Individual responses vary.
What do I need to bring to claim my health fund rebate?
Bring your health fund membership details if you have extras: the physical card, a digital card, or your membership number. After your visit we provide an itemised receipt for you to claim with your fund. You do not need extras to book.
Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) will still assess you the same way.
How long is the waiting period for chiropractic extras?
Many extras policies apply a waiting period before chiropractic benefits can be claimed. Two months is a common figure, but your fund sets the rule. Some funds treat transfers differently. Check with your fund.
You can still book and pay the clinic fee during a waiting period. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) can see you regardless of extras status.
Is there a limit on how many chiropractic visits I can claim per year?
Most extras policies use a yearly dollar cap rather than a visit count. That cap is your fund's rule, not a recommended number of visits at this clinic. Care is reviewed as you go. Individual responses vary.
Some policies share the cap with other extras such as physiotherapy. Unused cap usually does not carry over, and many policies reset on 1 January. Dr Sam Johnson (Chiropractor) does not plan care to use up your extras.
